Shopkeep: MJ Jaworowski, Notre, Chicago

May 05, 2017 BY NEWS

MJ Jaworowski and Jose Villanueva are the men behind Notre, a niche menswear shop in Chicago’s West Loop. After working in a premier skate shop in Michigan, MJ moved to Chicago and started working at now-closed Haberdash, where he met Jose. They opened Notre together in November 2014.

“We initially opened slightly outside of the city of Chicago—distributing key brand partners was my top priority,” said MJ. “We opened our new location last year, which is more centrally located in the Chicago market, next to Soho House, some of the city's top restaurants, home to Google’s Midwest HQ and the upcoming Ace Hotel. We're working on the next location now.”

The store prides itself on offering obscure, high-end streetwear lines. They’re currently stocking lines like Acronym, Alyx, JW Anderson, Engineered Garments, Needles and Second/Layer. “I believe [our first Capsule] was around 2012,” said MJ. “We spend the majority of our time in Paris and NYC markets. We will be traveling more for SS18 for personal and brand inspiration, and connections and stories.”
